A Portuguese dramatist (1836-81); born at Lisbon. He both wrote several plays, as "Love and Art"; "A Cure of Souls"; and also translated into Portuguese and adapted to the Portuguese theatre many of the dramatic compositions of Scribe, Hugo, Legouve, etc.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
