A French story-writer; born at Lorient, 1794; died at Paris, 1862. Among her stories, all intended for youthful readers, are: "The Fowler" (1825); "Old Daniel's Sundays" (1833); "The Little Hunchback" (1833); "Mother Goose's Stories" (1842): some of her stories were crowned by the Academy. She wrote also "An Old Woman's Reminiscences" (2 vols., 1861).
