A small herbaceous plant, Ord. Cruciferae, indigenous in Europe, which was employed, of old, in gout, rheumatism, etc. The seeds have been used, in the dose of one to three grains, in asthma, bronchitis, dropsy, and hypertrophy of the heart. It is said to possess acro-narcotic properties; but it is not much used.
