An eminent German composer and musician, grandson of Moses; born at Hamburg, Feb. 3, 1809; died at Leipzig, Nov. 4, 1847. Apart from his musical works, between one and two hundred in number, he was a voluminous correspondent. His "Letters" were published in 1861 and 1863 (English translation, 1862-63); "Letters to the Moscheles" (1888); "Selected Letters" (London, 1894).

- An enzyme that catalyzes the of groups from acetyl-CoA to arylamines. They have wide specificity for aromatic amines, particularly serotonin, and can also catalyze acetyl transfer between arylamines without CoA. EC 2.3.1.5.
