A German story-writer and art critic; born at Landsberg on the Lech, Dec. 11, 1853. Under the pseudonym "Theodor von der Ammer", he wrote "Munich Pictures: Humor and Satire irom Isar-Athens" (2d ed. 1878); and under his own name the novels "Ghosts of Quality" (1883); "Wedding of Herr von Radenau" (1884); "Viscountess Bossu" (1885); "The Langsteiners" (1886); "Natural Love" (1890) "The Devout Window" (2d ed. 1890); "Lost Eden: Holy Grail" (1804); "At the Table of Life" (1902).
