Mercuric oxid prepared by precipitation from a solution of a mercuric salt by a caustic alkali, and forming an amorphous bright yellow powder. It is used as a stimulant application, particularly under the form of an ointment for blepharitis, chronic conjunctivitis, opacitiesof the cornea, etc.
