September, 1756. During the French and Indian War, an attack was made in early September, 1756, by Colonel Armstrong upon Kittanning, a nest of Delaware Indians. The place was completely surprised, the houses burned, the chief killed, and much ammunition furnished by the French destroyed. The English loss was about twenty.
