An American poet and miscellaneous writer; born in Hamilton, N. Y., in 1806; died in Brooklyn, N. Y., Feb. 13, 1867. He was educated as a physician, but abandoned the practice of medicine in 1850, and devoted himself to literature. Besides contributions to periodicals, he published: "Poetical Sketches" (1829); "Arnold, and Other Poems" (1854); "Camp-Fires of the Red Men" (1855); "Confidential Experiences of a Spiritualist" (1858).
