Of Lord Grey, 1833, gave the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland power to suppress any meeting or association which he thought dangerous to peace, to declare any district disturbed, and to suspend the Habeas Corpus Act, with other powers. A Coercion Act was passed in the session of 1881.
